Jaylen does well yet again. Sophomore and Business major, Jaylen Wells, exploded in Sonoma State’s three game set last week, making himself Sonoma’s first CCAA player of the week since the 2015-16 season. During the Nov. 21-27 week, Wells was able to put up 77 points, 26 rebounds, and 13 assists throughout the three games they played. Despite losing on Nov. 22 against Humboldt in the CCAA opener, Wells managed to score a career high of 30 points against the Lumberjacks. Later in the week during the Thanksgiving Classic held at the Wolves Den, he managed 19 points, seven rebounds, and five assists against Fresno Pacific. In the last game, he came up with 28 points, eight rebounds, and five assists against Holy Names. Quite an impressive week for such a young, talented player.

The Sonoma State University Men’s Basketball team hosted the annual ‘SSU Thanksgiving Classic’ this past Saturday and Sunday, which resulted in the Seawolves first win of the 2022-23 season. The Seawolves beat Holy Names University, 93-67 this past Sunday. Their first win came as the Seawolves have been playing competitive basketball as they had lost their two prior games by no more than eight points.

As the semester starts to come to an end, the Men’s Basketball season is just getting started. This past weekend the Seawolves kicked off their season as they took on Dominican University and the Academy of Art. Against Dominican University, they lost in a close battle, 76-82. They also ended up losing to the Academy of Art 70-77 in another tight game. After going 3-25 last year, the team was very eager to get back out on the court and have a redemption season. After gaining some more players over the offseason, the men are fired up for the season.

On Sunday May 8, the Sonoma State Seawolves won their second straight CCAA (California Collegiate Athletic Association) championship title hosted by Cal State Monterey Bay. The Seawolves defeated Monterey in the championship to secure their second straight CCAA title and the fourth seed in the West Regional Tournament..

Fara still has the same passion for lacrosse that he did when he first started as a child. He started playing in third grade and has loved it ever since.

Boyle, while it’s still early in their career, believes that there is still plenty of time to get even better and reach the, “potential my coaches see in me.”

Sonoma State’s men's Lacrosse team continued its woes, as they dropped yet another game last Saturday to the number six team in the nation, U.C. Berkeley.

The Seawolves started on a sour note as they lost 8-0 in Friday’s 11-inning marathon, and 13-0 in their first game on Saturday. However, they managed to split the series evenly, as they won the last two games of the series, 7-1 and 8-7. After this series, this puts the Seawolves at 5-11 in conference play.
